We’re recruiting a School Care Taker to take ownership of the maintenance, safety, and smooth running of a busy school site. This is a long‑term position with a clear path to becoming permanent for the right person.
The Role
This is a hands‑on, trade‑heavy facilities role. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the site, buildings, and grounds are safe, compliant, and well maintained.
Practical Maintenance & Maintanence Work
- Carrying out general repairs, fault‑finding and day‑to‑day maintenance across the school site.

- Safely using and maintaining tools, equipment, and materials.
Technical Responsibilities
- Managing and checking building systems including alarms, CCTV, and fire safety equipment.
- Supporting emergency call‑outs when needed.
- Maintaining accurate compliance records and ensuring the site meets Health & Safety standards.
- Conducting and reviewing regular Health & Safety checks and risk assessments.
Operational & Team Responsibilities

- Coordinating external contractors and ensuring safe working practices on site.
- Supporting school operations such as deliveries, events, lettings and practical site logistics.
If you enjoy varied days, problem‑solving, and using your trade skills to improve a site, this role will suit you perfectly.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in facilities, maintenance, caretaking, or a skilled trade (e.g. plumbing, electrical, joinery, construction).
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and general site compliance.
- Practical problem‑solving skills and the ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Confidence working with contractors, staff and leadership teams.
- Good communication, organisation and record‑keeping skills.
- Physically able to carry out manual tasks such as lifting, carrying and general repair work.
